In Memory of K9 Jax

On October 31, 2017, K-9 officer, Jax died during a confrontation with a suspect engaged in domestic violence. When the suspect would not surrender peacefully, Jax was sent to subdue and apprehend him but was stabbed by the suspect. Jax was rushed to an animal hospital and passed away that evening at the age of four. Jax had served for two years in Sunnyvale and had 26 arrests to his credit.

The Sunnyvale Halloween Pet Parade & Faire is in memory of K9 Jax and honors the past and current working K9 officers of the City of Sunnyvale.

Taking Place (Virtually) on Murphy Avenue

"The most prevalent name in Sunnyvale, of course, is Murphy, representing the prolific family that made up a third of the first emigrant train to cross the Sierra Nevada.Murphy Avenue was one of the first streets in Sunnyvale. Founders of the area’s farm industry, the Murphys were the largest landowners in California. Murphy Station, land donated by the Murphys, was a stop on the Southern Pacific Railroad and eventually became Sunnyvale in 1912."
